FLASHING BEACONS FINALLY GET INSTALLED IN WEHO – FINALLY!!!
I was there to see it happen. The flashing beacons that I promised would be delivered to you back in October via my WeHo Hot Topic page finally went up today, only two months or so since a weho.org newsletter stated that they were supposed to go up. I’m not sure what happened. I know that they’ve done a lot of work to replace/improve the scenery/greenery around the crosswalks that run across Santa Monica Blvd from San Vicente to Doheny (meaning the better half of Santa Monica Blvd…West of La Cienega…where I happen to live). Maybe they were saving the best for last. Whatever the case, nobody told me.
Anyway, they should put one of these suckers next to every crosswalk, considering a guy was recently hit by a car on the crosswalk down the street from these fancy new flashing beacons. But judging from the time and effort that went into installing these four flashers for one crosswalk that connects the WeHo Starbucks to 24-Hour Fitness, I doubt more flashing beacons are going up on Santa Monica Blvd anytime soon. However, in all fairness, the Westmount Dr crosswalk is the busiest crosswalk in that little strip, so if any crosswalk should get flashing beacons, it should be that one.
I only saw the installation of these flashing beacons. I’ve yet to see them work in all their flashing glory.
I still say cross that damn street with caution.
Luv,
Me
